ForumSpy is a small and useful desktop tool with which you can see at any time who is currently using your phpBB, what contributions are being made (including previews) and more. Who doesn't want to spend the time to visit his/her phpBB every few minutes, can oboserve all the activity on it at any time using the ForumSpy - even if you are currently using your browser to surf on other sites or haven't started your browser at all.

It consists of two components: a hack which just has to be uploaded (no code changes required) and a desktop viewer, which the administratir can pass on to his or her members. The viewer is a simple .exe file (no installation necessarily), which displays all information on the user's desktop.

User's can only see information that they would have already seen on your index page.

No data is transfered to the user. The viewer is only a sort of mini browser, which displays the forumspy.php file on your server. This gives about the same performance as if someone would watch the index page of your phpBB in a standard browser. No more, no less.

Everything that can be seen in the viewer on the desktop can be configureed by the admin, by changing the images and style sheets for the hack on your server. Thus, you can adapt the design to that of your phpBB. If you open the file forumspy.php, there are still some further possibilities, so e.g. whether you want to show also the number of your members (deactivated as default) or to display a posting preview.

In addition, the biewer contains a small manager, with which you may add other forums with ForumSpy installed and you can then easily switch from one ForumSpy community to another at your will.
